I personally probably won't contribute to a site anywhere. My way of contributing was joining the folding team. I think it's sort of silly that we're not one of the Spread Firefox projects, since I think that that's what we best qualify as.

Maybe I'll try to be more active and check the site more often, where ever it ends up. :)

Fuck MozillaZine

So
that larrybpsu guy...he provides over 3.8 Million of their 5.5 million points. That's bullshit.

Then again *EVERYTHING* I have ever joined fails miserably.

So I'm goign to become actively involved in the Republican party and vote for George Bush because the last two elections I've been heavily involved in ahve been shit.

Maybe I should join mozilla zine just to watch it slowly crumble from my negative karma.

whoeh!

This did not fail miserably. As a researcher used to getting experiments that fail, I can only say: this is (was?) a good experiment.

To go crazy and start voting for bush that is just nuts ;o) 'step away from the booth', 'no, I am going to vote bush', 'Noooohooo'. "ok, to bad he is a gon-ner".

This site is very good, just the people here are not very active + we people on SFx do not have enough 'energy' to come overhere.

Have any interest in joining SFx? And put your usefull skills (or this site) for some interesting projects?

Mozillazine is usefull for all those people who need feedback and help on Mozilla product. Our folding efforts are still going strong, and just because Mozillazine folding team has 1 major player, does not mean we suck!

So let you negative karma crumble your negative karma. It will cause an effect ;o)

greetzzzzz....

Meh

ALl i'm saying is that there is value in keeping this site as a historical marker...That's all. Before you pull the plug, give it to me :-)

Still time

Yeah, the changes on SFx will be gradual, so we can't hop over yet ;o) But anyway it is not my call or my site to give... I was just asking here yes or no to this site... Plans will follow in the future when needed...

Financial interets

This is a PageRank 5 site!! Come on!? We're talkinga bout taking down a PageRank 5 site?!!?

If money is a concern, if hosting is a concern, I will gladly provide both but on the condition that I would become the active maintainer (sharing rights w/ mark of course).

But I, for one, am benefited *solely* by this site's existance :O PLease don't destroy it and i would need at least a month (and a 301 redirect) to move it to another server to retain the rankings.

Ted

Feel free

If you want to be a moderator, just tell me and you'll be one. It's as simple as that. I just do not have the time to maintain this site. And because nothing much is happening on the site I don't really feel like doing it when I do have some time. And because the site is quite unmaintained people aren't active.. and the circle is round.

That's why going under the hood of SFx will help us - it'll provide some more activity.

Purpose

Dear Ted,

I think that nobody thinks this site is not excellent. I do not think it is the hosting that is the problem. We have had a major discussion here if we should merge with MozillaZine. We said yes, they said no. We have over 400 folders in our team, but only 100+ are active.

This site shows very little activity, but should be an active forum for us folders. We are all supporting the just cause Folding@home is working for, but we joined this team because we are Firefox fans.

Firefox fans can be found on SFx (over 140 000!), and may want to contribute in some way to help spread firefox. I see that the active discussions, and special labels folders get in MozillaZine. It is actracting a lot on new folders (many also Firefox fans).

I just feel that under the new structure of SFx there is a place for us, with the reason to get more draft towards this project and more exposure. This will increase our folding effort, help F@H, and will make this folding effort a more lively thing.

Some people really do not care about talking about it, but some do. The discussions on MozillaZine are mainly just to have fun, not so much geared on science or computer technology. Just fooling around. I did not find such an atractive forum here, and I feel just advertising this site on SFx really (is) (did) not really work(ing)(ed).

It is my opinion, that is why I asked for a poll. No moderator has stepped up here or on SFx. I guess it does not look so attractive are 1 year ago. So lets hop back onto SFx, and be active.

That was my point

also. Ofcourse MozillaZine and SFx will not merge. A lot of Seamonkey fans fold for mozillazine, and they have an active folding comunity.

I feel we benfit more (although this site was a good idea at the time!) if we step back under SFx. I cannot tell anything about the new set-up. But is will be pretty sweet. MoFo is 100% behind us now and will help with more support SFx in the future.

97 million downloads and going strong ;o)

I can only say thank you praseodymium and Xmule for so much effort, and hope that you both will be as involved for this project in the future as you both were in the past. It did start a year ago with you guys!!!! ;o)

Lets keep it up!

What purpose does this site really serve?

How many people joined the team from this site? I know I got involved after the post on the main SFx page. Moreover, what should we be discussing here? Personally, I'm not that interested in the minutia of protein folding. I would assume that the site would be more dedicated to using the team as some kind of example of the Firefox community helping the larger world community. This, in turn, would help spur the use of Firefox. In my opinion, we don't need a community outside SFx, since I think the goal of our subcommunity is to benefit SFx anyway. (And though I wasn't involved in it at the time, this is also why it would make more sense for our team and MozillaZine to join together)
