Merge Team Firefox and MozillaZine?

Yes - but only if we rename our team instead of creating a new team.

poll useless

The merger has effectively been killed... all of the main folders on that team are staying in place; not to mention that they are getting upset and mean about it being pushed.

The final nail was from larry... he's staying in place as well.

oh well

I'm doing my best to recruit my fellow cadets (not a pun). They're a little leery of downloading stuff, but I'm sure I can get one or two to do it sooner or later. I don't have much time on my hands, but I'm still folding!

Well aint gonna happen now..

Team MozillaZine will not be merging with us. Well I guess it is their good right. In the end their reasons for folding differ from ours. We can only see the competition as a stick to keep us going.

I consider folding as a good cause, to help research going along. I am a researcher myself ( www.oulu.fi/bioprocess ), and see MozillaZine folding team in that same light. I lurk there because its a fun forum, but I do also care about spreading Firefox.

I was just in a small joking fude with them, a merger always seemed a little farfetched. Time to move on...

They should merge

There's no question. We were here first. It was a bonafide lack of research by both its founder(s) and folders that it exists at all, afaik. If the reverse is true, shame on you, Mark; and us all. But none-the-less, we have had a higher rank for longer, thus it would be less upset to our total top folders for them to merge into our ranks.

We have a Top 100 list to maintain here...somethign they still haven't reached.

<edit> Yep! we're older, by about 200 teams. And it looks like their ranks didn't improve AT ALL until just fairly recently. This is one fork which must merge. Then again, I think independent forks are almost always harmful to the forked project. </edit>

Top Folders

Our spread is a *lot* more spread than their's. In three days — baring a power outage — I'll be the top folder in both quantity and average units / day. I have 167,000 points; their top folder has 1,247,970. That's insane, imho. 116th Folder overall, 121 active CPUs.

You're completely right. I ca

You're completely right. I calculated it and posted this in another area of the site, but the basic idea of it is that 75% of Mozillazine folding power comes from their top 5 folders, whereas our top 20 only make up about 50% of our power. This means that we are indeed a much more evenly-spread team, and with our larger pool of folders (about 3X as many) are much more cumbersome. As I said before, we would save the most folding power if Mozillazine moved to us.

Oh I'm doing pretty good. I'm 21st right now and heading up. Ncb has stayed on my tail (or passed it) for about a month now. I'm slowly gathering computers since I lost most of them, so I expect to be picking up speed very slightly. Thinking long term, I expect to be doing about 2000/day in about 6 or 7 months.
