Merge both Moz and FF teams into a new one
I posted this into the Mozzilazine forums:
"I will join your team under one condition... that team Moz and team FF merge into a new team. Short of that, I'll stay where I am. I really think that the two teams would really stand a chance of gaining a high rank if we combine, because if we do not, we'll end up being a couple of 50ish place teams that get overlooked, if not passed as new fast teams get started. We really should combine forces, and aim for the top. The idea of two competing but related teams was a good one but it really isn't working for either side; we will soon stagnate.
I know that the idea has been considered before, but we really should go for it. Team Mozzilazine/Firefox. It would mean starting from scratch, but the team would climb *darn* fast. Even though the points that have been gained individually and as teams will be lost to us, it is for the overall project; that is why we fold in the first place. Why not go for the recognition as well, as one team? Give me one good reason why not.
There is the chance that we would lose some folders in the transition, but we stand to gain more when we are seen as a 30,000+ PPD team on the rise, and with a combined campaign to get more folders. There is a project underway for team FF to create an installer to automatically set certain FAH install options, and the hope that to set it as a service by default, that we can keep more active members by allowing people to forget that they are still folding by simply "not seeing it."
I have not yet posted anything about this on the other "forum" (dead as it is), but I think that it should definitely be reconsidered."
I really think that we should go for it. Tell me what you think.

Hell do it. :D
Hell do it. :D
Hi..
I am following th discussions on mozilla, at least those guys have an active forum life. I guess we will in a merge have this page (altered ofcourse) as front page and their forum as a forum page (i know 2 logins, but its possible).
I am up for it! Lets call a poll for the name?
what else is up, I will be on holiday soon 2, and back in august. Time to visit the states...
Greetzzzz.....

Interested in merging?
I need to hear some inputs... this is being reconsidered by the Moz forums guys, but it will not happen without you. Thursday of next week I'll check both forums and see if it will be a go or no-go.
Put it this way: It'll be a way to fold on the same team as larrybpsu without having to switch to the competing team.
I dunno....
Sounds like a great idea, but why can't we use one of the already-existing teams that have accumulated this many points? Since Mozillazine has so many fewer team members, it would make sense for them to transfer to us (that and we have more accumulated points). In that way, we would lose the least folders.
Look at it another way: 75% of their folding power is concentrated in their top 5 folders. Whereas, with us, our top 20 ranks produce only about 50% of our points. Breaking it down that way, we will lose much more folding power if Firefox transfers to Mozillazine and even more if we both form a new team. Plenty of ppl will not transfer. To preserve the most power possible, we should get Mozillazine to transfer to us.
Is it possible to convince Pande to change our name? Is there a way to do that without creating a new team number? We should try that. Post something here or e-mail me xcdustin@hotmail.com if you have questions about this. I'd love to see us join, though, just not a new team.
Yeah!
Exactly. We'd lose too many peple when we start a new team. And I can change the name via the script at the Folding@Home site - I've done it before (to change the logo and homepage, for example).
About the installer, I did some work on it but it's quite difficult to get Folding@Home as a service as you cannot execute the console version with some arguments to get it installed as a service: people would need to type 'yes' and to the rest of the setup manually etc. - if nobody of course has some method to circumvent this. Let me know.
will not happen...
They main folder for MozzilaZine team is a Seamonkey guy! He, he likes mozilla, but not firefox per say. So if we merge (if they still want) it has to be new team.
The animo has faltered a bit in the mozilla team for mergin though. I can ask if they put up a poll as well... Lets see what they say.

uhm..
But nobody says we will only be 'Team Firefox'. Maybe we'll become the Seafox team. Everything's possible.
