Wordpress Banned by Google for Spamming
Submitted by praseodymium on Thu, 2005-03-31 19:56.I found this quite shocking news - an open source application with such sneaking techniques. To summarize: Wordpress has been hosting 168.000 (168 thousand) articles on their website specifically designed to game the Google Adwords program, using high-cost advertising keywords like asbestos, mesothelioma, insurance, debt consolidation, diabetes and mortgages.
Wordpress Banned by Google for Spamming - The Real Nick W writes "Wordpress, an incredibly popular Open Source Blogging system was found to be spamming google by inserting hidden links to junk content on high paying Adsense keywords such as mesothelioma and debt consolidation. Following Threadwatch picking up the story an anonymous Google rep appeared in the original thread admonishing bloggers not to use sneaky tactics to rank highly for "duplicate content" such as the 100,000 hidden articles on the Wordpress site. The articles have now dissapeared from Google and it remains to be seen whether Google will ban Wordpress outright as they tend to do when SEO's and web dev's pull these kinds of stunts." [Slashdot]
Utter 13th-Hour Bush Hypocrisy!
Submitted by HopeSeekr of xMule on Thu, 2005-03-31 19:42.O MY GODDESS!!
Get a load out of this quote by our very impotent Commander-in-Chief!
I urge all those that honor Terri Schiavo to continue to work to build a culture of life where all Americans are welcomed and valued and protected, especially those who live at the mercy of others. The essence of civilization is that the strong have a duty to protect the weak. Cases where there are serious doubts and questions, the presumption should be in the favor of life. -- George W. Bush
This coming after she died. His sentence -- "The essence of civilization is that the strong have a duty to protect the weak" -- is absolutely the most intelligent rhetoric I have ever heard from his mouth in almost 5 years. Yet, it appears he has not, in fact, contemplated his own speech writer's words. For in this very same instance, the strong condemned the weak to death, had it legally enforced, and had the judicial branch of government totally supercede the other three branches (Executive, Legislative, and Populous).
Terri Schindler was Viciously Murdered; Legally
Submitted by HopeSeekr of xMule on Thu, 2005-03-31 16:12.She's dead. God Bless Amerika! That Terri Schiavo was legally murdered proves we live under Judicial tyranny.
I've read the Bible through and through, and while there is some very disgusting/vile stuff (like women eating their children during a seige) there's nothing quite that compares to the starvation of a mentally handicapped woman by the biggest power to ever have inhabitted the Earth -- that we know of.
The main cause of death for those crucified was dehydration. Even the 1st Century Romans -- as hedonistic/heathen as they were -- knew this was a very barbaric way to go, so for relatively-benign criminals, such as Jesus of Nazareth, they would pierce their chests after a few hours, in order to cause fairly-rapid death-by-drowning as the lungs filled with fluid.

Coolest FireFox-only Page Ever!!
Submitted by HopeSeekr of xMule on Tue, 2005-03-29 22:52.This is some *l337* stuff! OMFG!!
Can you imagine how much more you could use this in things like MMORPGs?!
Please note: I had a fairly difficult time trying to figure out what the freck this site was all about! I literally had to carefully analyze the source code before I realized that the trick is to use the scrollbars...
Google's AdLinks
Submitted by praseodymium on Sun, 2005-03-20 23:23.Since a few days, Google has AdLinks: a new form of AdWords advertisment. If you're curious what it is, just scroll down to the bottom of the sidebar. They should be under the "Thanks to" header (except if you are on member-only pages - Google's bot can't index them) - feel free to check them out!
So, what do you think of them? Time for another poll (or post comments)!
