What I'm running.
Submitted by deus_vult on Sun, 2005-11-27 18:02.I've noticed that redcoral and I were the only ones running 1 processor in the top 20 producer's list on eoc, so I figured I'd share what I was running.
I have a Pentium4 2.4GHz with 1GB RDRAM running XP. I'm running the FAH 5.04 console as a service with the advmethods and bigwu flags on, but only recently started getting the QMD Core. This does take a lot more RAM, currently using 214MB.
Hope others that can will run these options, as this has doubled my point production.
Another Milestone: 80K points :-)
Submitted by rivimey on Sat, 2005-10-29 22:55.Well, I promised myself I would post again at 80K, and I've just passed that - 81140 as I write. Still at position 17, though I'm hoping for an overtake soon ...
The boost is partly due to my Workstation being upgraded to a dual Athlon 4400+, which is as fast as it sounds :-)
Not much other news, really. Be good to hear more from you all, though.

Call for moderator is out on SFX
Submitted by up north on Mon, 2005-09-12 07:18.Dear Firefox users,
As may be know by some of you praseodymium has started a two fold effort almost 1 year ago.
The effort are two fold, because by helping this research we help fight deseases, and help Spreading the Word. So one way you can help us is to go to our introduction page and sign up.
Ok so far my (shameless) plug
But we also need some serious help. Our site has been spammed by backtrack spam, our numbers of active users goes down, and the site need to be more active. We need some features, and updates to the page.
So we are asking our SFx community to help out! Who is willing to help praseodymium with is efforts as site moderator. If I had the skills and time I would do it, but I will be wrapped up in the furture with this web site instead.
Hello there y'all
Submitted by rivimey on Thu, 2005-09-01 14:38.My first blog post to SFX to mark my reaching 60K points. I've been folding here for some time, and seem to have "caught the F@H bug" - drat :-)
I say that because Lanza, who has tracked me up the chart doggedly for many months now, seems to have found another CPU, or a faster one, and I am feeling that I need to do likewise to keep up. I thought this was about using spare cycles, not buying new ones :) Oh well, it's a good cause!
If Lanza is reading this I would be interested to find out about you. I'm a software engineer living in Cambridge, and have 3 more-or-less fulltime folding machines: an Athlon 3100+ that's also my fileserver (0.5TB), a P4 3GHz that's my desktop workstation, and an old P4 1.8GHz laptop that's not always folding. I used to have a PIII 866MHz on permanent folding duty, but it seems to have given up the ghost now.

Submitted by up north on Fri, 2005-08-26 05:50.I blew out my ventilator, so I have my case now full open, and run only a minimum of programs until I can replace it. Just trying to sparemy CPU (AMD Athlone 1700+)
Anybody has any idea how hot they are allowed to get?
So I paused F@H at home :o( The 2 at work are still running...
[edit] Ok bought a new one, this weekend its back up...
